The question we ask first is not what we would enjoy building, it is who is going to update this site in eighteen months and what they are comfortable doing. A hand-coded theme is the wrong answer for a team that needs to add pages weekly without calling anyone. A page builder is the wrong answer when every template is genuinely different. Most projects sit somewhere between.

What comes before the build is architecture. How the site is organized, what each page is for, which pages carry search intent, and where somebody who arrives from Google is meant to go next. Sites fail more often on structure than on styling, and structure is the part that is expensive to change later.
